Sven Rodrigues-Wagner was born in Bremen, Germany, but has made his home in the town of Harlow, just north of London. He attained a bachelor’s in economics at college and worked in supply chain and operations for global businesses. Currently, he works as an EMEA Supply Planner.
As well as his day job, Sven has been a keen writer for many years, and his move to the UK reinvigorated him to pick up his pen once more. Now he is poised to publish his first children’s book, The Adventures of Jack the Cat – The Food Thief. His second book, The Sewer Murders, also features Jack in another mystery; the third book is currently in work and planned to publish in Nov 2023.
In his free time, Sven enjoys reading, writing, playing video games, running, and practising martial arts. When he gets the chance, he loves to travel, whether close to home or further afield, and he has been an annual participant in NaNoWriMo since 2019.
Sven lives with his wife, daughter, and cat, Misty MooMoo. They are also visited regularly by several stray cats who appear to have adopted them, at least for now.
Sven hopes to continue writing about the adventures of Jack the Cat and build it into a series that will one day give him financial freedom and allow him to move into writing full-time. He also has an ambition to run the Ultramarathon des Sables one day, widely recognized as the toughest endurance race on the planet.
A bit more about me:
I became Sven Rodrigues – Wagner by marrying my best friend and soulmate, Rosa Rodrigues – Wagner. Speaking of my wife, she is why I attempted to write my first novel nearly 25 years after I wrote my last story in secondary school.
It felt right to leave my hometown Bremen in Germany, after 30 years. It was time for a change, but I never felt brave enough to take the next steps. Luckily I met Rosa at the right time in my life, and we have been on an incredible journey together.
I am the eldest of 6 Brothers. Growing up with the 6 of them was always an adventure and mystery. We grew up without a real father figure, but we all managed well for ourselves. Each of us now follows a different path in life, but some are still rather close, even if separated by distance.
The inspiration for Jack the Cat was born one day by watching our many cats in the neighbourhood. Where we live, we have a lot of stray cats wandering around. Our garden was the go-to area for many years as we had two attractive female cats, and my wife fed everyone who turned up.
Rosa still feeds everyone, whether human or animal, but both Nina and Gina sadly left us due to their high age. But we discovered soon that Buddy and Monsieur Jack, both stray cats that occasionally visited our garden for food, had chosen us as their new owners.
One day I had the idea to turn their cat lives into a story. And the story became a novel, and the book will become a series about Jack and the many cats around us. Follow us to learn more about the curious cats from the neighbourhood.
