Writing The Nexus Protocol: AI, Memory, and Survival

Project Update: The Nexus Protocol

A Story That Grew Beyond the Original Vision

I have reached an important milestone in the development of my latest science fiction novel, The Nexus Protocol. This project has grown into something far more personal and complex than I originally imagined. At its core, it is a story about connection, loss, and what it means to remain human in the shadow of an intelligence we no longer understand.

A Hacker, an AI, and a Fractured World

The story follows a former hacker. He is pulled back into a world he tried to leave behind. His wife is dying. The only way to save her may lie in aligning with a mysterious AI system. However, the system may not be entirely honest about its origins or its goals. As he digs deeper, the lines between memory, identity, and control begin to blur. He begins to realize just how deeply entangled he is in the very system he helped build.

Where the Manuscript Stands Now

Right now, I am deep in the editing and expansion phase. I am aiming for a final manuscript of around 90,000 words. Instead of simply polishing the prose, I am focusing on enriching each scene. I want to bring out the emotional weight and layered motivations of the characters. As a result, the pacing is sharper and the themes are beginning to crystalline. Some of the work is exhilarating. Some of it is difficult. But all of it feels worth it.

What This Story Is Becoming

If you enjoy science fiction with a strong emotional arc, complex characters, and thought-provoking themes, The Nexus Protocol is taking shape as something grounded and intense. It blends action with introspection. It explores rogue AI, the ethics of technological power, and the cost of survival in a world that no longer trusts itself.

Even now, with chapters still unfolding, I can feel the shape of the story becoming clearer. I will be sharing more updates as the final sections come together. In the meantime, feel free to explore earlier blog posts, learn more about why I write stories like this, or join the newsletter for behind-the-scenes notes and early chapter previews.

Final Words

Thank you for being here. This story is becoming something special, and I am excited to share more with you soon.

Stay in the Light.
And if the world feels heavy, uncertain, or dark, remember this. You are the light. Keep it bright. Keep it strong. The world needs it.
